Housing Policy and Violence in Chicago
In 2012, Chicago had 506 homicides, the most since 2008. But not all parts of the city have suffered equally. Certain neighborhoods on the south and west sides of the city have been decimated by violence -- neighborhoods like Englewood on the Southside. Some residents blame the influx of former public-housing residents relocated to the neighborhoods after the projects were demolished. But it turns out the story's a bit more complicated than that.
